Trying to Solve

Suriname has not helped Haiti in the past because they were worried in their neighbor country, Guyana. A large quantity of goods were sent to the CYA headquarters in Georgetown, Guyana. These help was never expected from the Surinamese community. Not even in our wildest dreams. Right now, this hurricane season, Paramaribo (Suriname´s capital city) offered $125,000 to Haiti to relief after several hurricanes have lashed on that week. Suriname´s Caricom Youth Ambassadors (CYA) rallied a donation in goods for affected areas in Haiti. Surinamese hired a 5-ton van to give those goods to Georgetown ( Guyana´s Capital city). On the arrival of Haiti´s money they distributed it.

The Issue

This 2008 Hurricane season was stronger. The amount of hurricanes in the Caribbean have increased. A normal hurricane season has eleven named storms, six hurricanes and two major hurricanes of category of three or more. But on April, while measuring the climate conditions and air pressure they predicted that this have from 12 to 16 named storms which will grow to a major hurricane of category 3 or more. This year the Hurricanes are not that strong in the US coast, it is stronger in the Caribbean like in Puerto Rico and other Caribbean islands. When hurricanes arrive, Islands loose thousands of $ and they might run out of money if lots of hurricanes make lots of disasters and they have to pay to arrange them. All this problem is taking place in the Caribbean (specially Haiti). Lots of countries have tried to help including the US and other near surrounding countries. This problem was not that important before but in the year 2008 it has increased so it has become a problem to all the Haiti citizens. Some people say that It just increased because mother nature decided it be we think that it all has to do with global warming. Global warming is warming up the planet so that it makes other places tropical and warm enough to increased the power of the hurricanes and star it´s existence.
